Wilson unloaded with a fairly competitive car and felt confident with his chances after practice heading into qualifying. Wilson's effort in qualifying would reaffirm his feelings in his chances as he placed himself fourth on the qualifying rundown and with no redraw before the race would line up on the outside of row number two for the start behind the machines of Rumley, Jason Payne and Brad Kurth and just ahead of track points leader Rodney Cook.

Caution flags came early and often but Wilson would keep his nose clean through all the melees and continue to run in the top five as the race went on. As the race went on and more and more caution flags appeared, Wilson decided to start making use of Ace Speedway's newly implemented choose cone double-file restarts moving his car into the front of the outside lane with hopes to be able to challenge for the lead.

While this move never put Wilson in a position to take over the point it did help him avoid the log-jams that often occurred on the restart in the inside lane. "Even though I was able to stay up there in the top five on my own for most the night it was great to be able to jump up to the outside and see what I could muster and with all the cautions that kept coming out I kept getting more and more chances to do that," said Wilson about the choose cone restarts after the race.

On the final restart of the race with 10 laps to go Wilson once again chose to jump to the outside lining up outside of leader Rodney Cook. Wilson put everything he had into hanging tough on the outside line and challenging for the win but Cook as well as Rumley and Turner proved to be too tough for Wilson as they all made it past moving Wilson back to fourth on the track. Wilson would be able to hang there for the final laps bringing home another solid top five with a fourth place finish at the end of 100 laps.

"It was another solid performance for me and my team getting our third top five here at Ace in the three times we've come here this season," said Wilson after the race. "We came here hoping to get a shot at the win and the paycheck and we did have a shot but Rodney(Cook) was just too strong there at the end. I felt like ultimately we had about a fourth place car and that's where we ended up finishing."

Ryan Wilson will return to his campaign for the Caraway track championship as well as the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National and North Carolina State championships this coming Saturday, May 29 as he returns to Caraway Speedway for twin 75-lap Late Model Stock races in hopes to earn his second and third victories of the season.
